Mariana Lloyd
Mosaic artist and designer based in Rio de Janeiro
Studied Graphic Design at California University of Pennsylvania and graduated from PUC-Rio in 2010. After participating in a workshop in Baukurs ministered by Thea Miranda, fell in love with the technique. In 2012, did a master in Mosaic in Italy at Orsoni factory, in Venice. Took part in yearly mosaic lectures in Buenos Aires for five years in a row and made lectures in two of them. One about the mosaic installed in the subway station in Rio (Nossa Sra. da Paz, exit by Maria Quitéria street) and one about the north american artist George Ehling. Inspired by geometry, nature, technology and relationships between the micro and the macro, the work of Mariana transmits the idea of movement, harmony and belonging. By placing small pieces of glass, ceramic and rocks, imaginary landscapes are created.
